By using TellMyLocation.com ("the Service"), you agree to the limitations of liability outlined below. This tool is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
Digital GPS tools depend on battery life, hardware integrity, and satellite visibility. They are NOT a replacement for a physical map, magnetic compass, or PLB (Personal Locator Beacon).
1. Accuracy Limitations
While we utilize the W3C High-Accuracy Geolocation API, the coordinates displayed are generated by your device's hardware, not our servers.
- Urban Canyons: In cities with tall buildings, GPS signals may bounce (Multipath Error), causing position drift of up to 50 meters.
- Indoor Use: If you are indoors, your device likely uses Wi-Fi triangulation, which is an estimate and not a precise fix.
2. Specific Safety Scenarios
To ensure user safety, we mandate the following protocols for specific use cases:
For Hikers & Wilderness Travel
Do not rely on this tool as your primary navigation. Smartphones are fragile. Batteries die quickly in cold weather. Screens shatter.
- Protocol: Always carry a paper map and magnetic compass.
- Connectivity: In deep wilderness, cellular triangulation fails. Our tool works offline only if the page was cached prior to losing signal.
For Drivers & Roadside Emergencies
Do not use this tool while the vehicle is in motion. Distracted driving laws apply to GPS tools.
- Protocol: Pull over to a safe shoulder and come to a complete stop before attempting to read or copy your coordinates.
- Interference: Inside a metal car chassis, GPS signal strength may be degraded by 10-20%. Step outside the vehicle (if safe) for a better fix.
3. No Emergency Services Affiliation
TellMyLocation.com is a private utility. We are not affiliated with 911, 112, or any government search and rescue organization. Using the "SOS" button on our site generates a link for you to share; it does not automatically transmit your location to authorities.
4. Data Processing
We operate on a "Client-Side" architecture. Your location data is processed in your browser's Random Access Memory (RAM). We do not store, log, or transmit your coordinates to any backend database. Once you close the tab, the data is irretrievably lost.
